About the Journal
The GeoInformatics for Spatial-Infrastructure Development in Earth & Allied Sciences (GIS-IDEAS) Journal, hereafter abbreviated as TGIJ traces its origins to the biennial international conference organized under the aegis of the Japan-Vietnam Geoinformatics Consortium (JVGC) since 2002. In response to growing interest and continued patronage, we have undertaken the initiative to launch the Open Access GIS-IDEAS Journal under the tutelage of the Association of GeoInformatics Laboratories for Earthsciences (AGILE). Read detailed history here.
The GIS-IDEAS Journal aims to promote academic exchanges through the publication of high-quality, peer-reviewed research articles, short communications and review papers in the field of Geoinformatics. It will be managed by an International Editorial Board.
We appreciate your continued support in establishing the GIS-IDEAS Journal as a respected publication within the Geoinformatics community.
TGIJ is issued 4 times a year in electronic form. We encourage all interested contributors to submit their work for consideration.
Focus and Scope
Journal of GIS Ideas is dedicated to publishing high-quality research papers and reviews on terrestrial and marine topics, including geomatics, geophysics, geography, geology, geographic information systems, remote sensing, cartography, oceanography, hydrography, and marine science and technology.
TGIJ focuses on theoretical, empirical, and applied research in GeoInformatics and Earth Sciences.
TGIJ invites original research covering all aspects of the field of Geoinformatics. The GIS-IDEAS Journal includes Articles, Short communications and invited Review papers. The requirement for these are indicated below :
Article: Manuscripts, including all references, appendices, tables, and figures, must be between 4000 to 7000 words (15 four printed A4 size pages) in length. Submissions that exceed this limit will not be accepted for review.

Peer Review Process
All papers are double-blind reviewed. The GIS-IDEAS Journal publishes only papers written in English. We expect that the papers submitted to The GIS-IDEAS Journal were not published in any other journal. We accept papers previously published in conference proceedings, if they are significantly extended.
Archiving / Repository Policy
TGIJ (ISSN: 2759-7359 [ONLINE]) is hosted on OJS and preserved long-term via J-STAGE (operated by Japan Science and Technology Agency). Currently, Articles are discoverable via Google Scholar. TGIJ plans to apply for indexed in DOAJ (see https://doaj.org/) to further enhance visibility.
Self-archiving enables authors to deposit a copy of their manuscript in an online repository. TGIJ encourages authors of original research manuscripts to upload their article to an institutional or public repository immediately after publication in the journal.
Long-term Digital Archiving
J-STAGE preserves its full digital library, including TGIJ, with Portico in a dark archive (see https://www.portico.org/publishers/jstage/). In the event that the material becomes unavailable at J-STAGE, it will be released and made available by Portico.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
