About the Journal

The GeoInformatics for Spatial-Infrastructure Development in Earth & Allied Sciences (GIS-IDEAS) Journal, hereafter abbreviated as TGIJ traces its origins to the biennial international conference organized under the aegis of the Japan-Vietnam Geoinformatics Consortium (JVGC) since 2002. In response to growing interest and continued patronage, we have undertaken the initiative to launch the Open Access GIS-IDEAS Journal under the tutelage of the Association of GeoInformatics Laboratories for Earthsciences (AGILE). Read detailed history here.

The GIS-IDEAS Journal aims to promote academic exchanges through the publication of high-quality, peer-reviewed research articles, short communications and review papers in the field of Geoinformatics. It will be managed by an International Editorial Board.

We appreciate your continued support in establishing the GIS-IDEAS Journal as a respected publication within the Geoinformatics community.

TGIJ is issued 4 times a year in electronic form. We encourage all interested contributors to submit their work for consideration.

Peer Review Process

All papers are double-blind reviewed. The GIS-IDEAS Journal publishes only papers written in English. We expect that the papers submitted to The GIS-IDEAS Journal were not published in any other journal. We accept papers previously published in conference proceedings, if they are significantly extended.

Repository Policy

TGIJ (ISSN: 2759-7359 [ONLINE]) allows authors to deposit all versions of their work in an institutional or subject repository. This policy sets out the ways in which TGIJ authors can self-archive versions of their work on their own web pages, or institutional web pages, and in other repository.

Archiving Policy

TGIJ digital archiving policy guarantees that published scholarly content remains readily available to the academic community in the face of accidental data loss in our archival records. This is made possible through the robust systems integrated into the OJS:

PKP Preservation Network (PN)

The PKP Preservation Network (PN) provides free preservation services for any journal managed and operated through Open Journal System (OJS). The PKP PN plugin for OJS 3 is available in the plugin gallery. Therefore, fulfilling the basic criteria, this plugin has been activated for the Journal.

LOCKSS and CLOCKSS Archival Systems

The journal uses the digital preservation systems of LOCKSS and CLOCKSS licenses for archiving through the OJS. LOCKSS is an open-ended program in which all libraries can participate in its global network. CLOCKSS is a global archive that preserves content on behalf of all libraries, publishers, and scholars worldwide.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

Indexation

The journal will initially be indexed in Google Scholar and Japan NII (National Institute of Informatics).
